Training

Training title: SPACE HPC Winter School – The Future of HPC in Astrophysics and Cosmology

Date: 15-19 December 2025
Event format: in presence
Registration form: www.sexten-cfa.eu/event/icsc-spoke3-fm/

The SPACE HPC Winter School will be an in-presence training, part of the larger event “The Universe in a Chip: Final ICSC Spoke-3 Meeting on HPC & Big Data in Astrophysics”.

Such workshop will take place in Sesto Pusteria, Italy, from December 14th to 19th, 2025, and it will be hosted in the Sexten Center for Astrophysics.

The school will be delivered in partnership with the Italian National Centre on High-Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing (CN-HPC in short), a project created and managed by the ICSC Foundation. This is one of the five National Centres funded within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and it promotes and supports research and development activities to advance HPC and big-data analytics.

A cutting-edge infrastructure for HPC and big data management uses existing resources and upcoming technology. In this venue we will interact with the strategic scientific area of astrophysics and cosmos observations, which aims at the exploitation of cutting-edge solutions in HPC and Big Data processing and analysis for problems of interest in the following research areas: cosmology, stars and galaxies, space physics (earth, solar and planetary), radio astronomy, observational astrophysics and time domain, high energy astrophysics, cosmic microwave background, large scale structure of the universe, clusters of galaxies, multi-messenger astrophysics, and numerical simulations and modelling.

During the event, the main achievements of the SPACE CoE and of the Spoke 3 of the National Centre for HPC, Big Data, and Quantum Computing will be presented through oral presentations and poster sessions.

Preliminary information and the registration form can be found here:

The detailed program will follow.

It is also possible to submit papers to the special issue of "Astronomy and Computing" that focuses on the work accomplished in the National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing and in the SPACE CoE, organised for the event. The deadline for submission is 31 OCTOBER 2025 using this link:
